Tribeca Film Festival Draws Millions of Attendees

Since 2002, this NYC has been debuted thousands of indie and studio films.

The TriBeca Film Festival is an annual NYC event that draws three million people including celebrities from the world of film, art, and music. It’s hard to believe that this iconic event started just 16 years ago.

Robert DeNiro, Jane Rosenthal, and Craig Hatkoff founded TriBeca Film Festival and held the inaugural event in 2002. The festival featured screenings of independent films as well as premieres of major studio movies. More than 150,000 people attended—an impressive turnout for a brand new festival.

Screenings for the Tribeca Film Festival will take place at several area theaters.

The following year, attendance doubled to 300,000 and the NYC event continued to grow into the massive happening it is today. More than 1,500 screenings will take place over the 11 days of the festival along with Tribeca Talks, and other special events. Some of the events that are sure to be among the most popular are the Reunion Screenings of important films such as Scarface, which celebrates its 35th anniversary, and Schindler’s List, which celebrates its 25th anniversary.

Following the screening of Scarface, attendees can enjoy a conversation with Al Pacino, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Brian DePalma. After the screening of Schindler’s List, a conversation will take place with Steven Spielberg, Liam Neeson, and Sir Ben Kingsley.

Following the screening of Scarface, attendees can enjoy a conversation with Al Pacino, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Brian DePalma.
