GMA Summer Concert Series - Rumsey Playfield:
Anyone who watches Good Morning America is familiar with their weekly summer concerts featuring some of the biggest names in music. The first of this year’s summer concerts takes place on May 19th when Green Day kicks things off. The Friday concerts will run through the first week in September. Other 2017 performers include Lady Antebellum, Big Sean, The Lumineers, and Dierks Bentley. If you’ll be in the City, why watch on TV when you could catch the performances live? SummerStage - Rumsey Playfield:
SummerStage concerts take place on various dates between May and September. Most of the concerts are a free, with a few exceptions for benefit concerts that help to pay for the SummerStage NYC Event. This year’s lineup includes Elvis Costello & The Imposters, The Revivalists, Regina Spektor, and many others! Start times vary, and the entrance opens an hour before the show begins. Note that even though the concerts are free, space is limited, so it’s a good idea to arrive early.
Family Performance Festival – Great Hill:
The kids aren’t left out of the fun! This free NYC Event encourages kids to get up and sing and dance along with the performers. This year’s Family Performance Festival encompasses many performance styles including storytelling, puppetry, music, and other types of kid-friendly fun! The Festival activities take place each Sunday from the middle of June through the first Sunday in September and begin at noon. Attendees are welcome to bring a picnic and enjoy an afternoon of family fun!
Naumburg Orchestral Concerts - Naumburg Bandshell:
One of the great things about this city is its rich history, and the free concerts held each summer at the Naumburg Bandshell are part of that history. Since 1905, these concerts have helped to introduce people to the world of classical music while also promoting up-and-coming musicians and conductors. This NYC Event is the oldest of its kind in the entire country, and it attracts locals and visitors, young and old!
