About La Maison du Chocolat:
When many of our Hotel Guests are looking for fun NYC Things to Do, they head to Wall Street and do a bit of NYC Shopping for treats at La Maison du Chocolat. La Maison du Chocolat has long been regarded as one of the premier Paris chocolatiers, thanks to a popular combination of luscious ingredients and decadent chocolate.

Chocolates at La Maison come in many shapes, sizes, and flavors – some of the most sought after being the tennis ball-sized, crunch Rocher pralines. In addition to high-end chocolates, La Maison du Chocolat features a tea room on the premises, which many chocolate lovers find immensely gratifying.

Robert Linxe, who was born in Bayonne, France in 1929, founded La Maison du Chocolat. Linxe fell in love with chocolate in Bayonne, but his yearning to turn passion into craft led him to take an apprenticeship in Switzerland - in the 1950’s. Linxe trained at the C.O.B.A. School, married in 1954, and then bought La Marquise de Presles pastry and confectionary boutique in Paris. He began a catering business, which he developed over a period of 20 years, and sold this company to the well-known pastry chef Gaston Lenotre.

Linxe founded La Maison du Chocolate in 1977, at 225 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore, Paris 8th – in the former location of Caves Cosette. In 1987 he opened a 2nd boutique in Paris, and then a 3rd in 1989.

La Maison du Chocolate came to New York in 1990 and was so successful that Linxe decided to open up other NYC chocolate shops. The Wall Street location saw its first customers in 2008. Today, La Maison du Chocolat is known around the world and is a highly-regarded name in the world of luxury chocolates.
