Yankee Stadium | NYC Attraction
Yankee Stadium is an NYC Attraction that is a can’t-miss for baseball fans.
To some hard core baseball fans, Yankee Stadium is more than just an NYC Attraction – it is a destination of pilgrimage. While the new stadium may not have the iconic status of the old Yankee Stadium, it is still a can’t-miss Attraction for many.
About Yankee Stadium:
The New Yankee Stadium sits a block from the old. The original Yankee Stadium was built in 1923, and it was home to the beloved Yankees for 86 years. Fans were heartbroken to learn that this iconic ballpark was to be replaced, but it was time. Construction began in 2006, and the new Yankee Stadium opened in April of 2009. With a final price tag or $1.5 billion, it is the most expense baseball stadium ever built.
As a nod to the historic Yankee Stadium, some design features from the old were incorporated into the new. Most notably, the exterior resembles the original 1923 stadium. The interior is similar in dimensions, but the park boasts every modern amenity. There is seating for 50,207 including 4,300 club seats and 68 luxury suites.
Most think of Yankee Stadium as the home of the New York Yankees, but it is also the home of the New York City FC – a major league soccer team. Getting tickets to games at Yankee Stadium isn’t typically difficult, but there are some games that will sell out far in advance. For that reason, we always suggest that guests at our Central Park Hotel reserve their tickets will in advance just in case the game is already sold out when they arrive.
Another way to enjoy Yankee Stadium is by taking a tour. Several different tour options are available. One popular choice is the Classic Tour. This tour gives visitors a chance to get a behind-the-scenes at the NYC Attraction. During your tour, you’ll get to see the dugout, the press box, and other areas that are usually off-limits to visitors. This tour is a fun choice for even the casual baseball fan, but there is another option for those who are serious Yankee fans.
The Hands of History Tour can make some Yankee fans’ dreams come true as they are allowed to not only see but handle some of the most important relics in Yankee history. This exciting tour lets attendees handle items such as World Series rings, Derek Jeter’s jersey, Mickey Mantle’s glove, and Babe Ruth’s bat. For serious fans, the Hands on History Tour at Yankee Stadium will be the highlight of their visit to New York City.
