A visit to the Guggenheim, a well-known New York City Museum, is a must for any art enthusiasts during a stay at Park Lane Hotel.
About the Guggenheim Museum:
The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum was opened in 1939 under the name Museum of Non-Objective Painting. As a way to honor his memory, the name of the museum changed in 1952 when its founder died. A few years later, another important change would be made at this New York City Museum.
Originally housed in a rented space, in 1959 the Museum moved to its current location on 5th Avenue. The building was designed by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright, and the building is considered one of the most important of the 20th century. Visitors come to the Guggenheim Museum not only to see the massive collection of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, Modern and Contemporary art, but also to see the building itself.
More than 1 million people visit the Museum each year. It is popular with both locals and guests at NYC Hotels like Park Lane Hotel. Just a few of the many notable works include Red Balloon by Paul Klee, The Yellow Cow by Franz Marc, and Woman with a Fan by Jean Metzinger.
Visitors are free to explore the collections on their own, but some prefer to take a guided tour. Art in the Round Tours are available daily at 2 p.m. Other tours and events are also available and will enhance your visit to this New York City Museum.
