What better place to celebrate Independence Day than in New York City? Not only is it a place rich in history, but you’ll also find plenty of ways to celebrate July 4th in NYC! This city knows how to throw a party. As you’d expect, some of the country’s best fireworks will take place over New York City, and our Central Park Hotel is near much of the action! Here are a few NYC events to help you celebrate America’s birthday during your stay at Park Lane Hotel.

Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks
We might as well talk about the big guns first. Macy’s isn’t exactly known for subtlety when it comes to their holiday events. Instead, they want to be the biggest and the best—and they succeed each year when they put on one of the country’s most impressive fireworks display to mark July 4th in NYC! More than 60,000 fireworks will be shot over the East River and can be seen from various vantage points around the city. Of course, that’s not big enough for Macy’s, so the show is also synched up to music and goes on for nearly half an hour.

Don’t want to deal with the crowds? You can watch from the comfort of your guest room at Park Lane Hotel as the entire spectacular will be shown live on NBC.

Family Fireworks Cruise
Infinity Yacht
Another way to enjoy the Macy’s fireworks is to book a spot on a fireworks cruise such as the Family Fireworks cruise. It includes a dinner buffet, a DJ spinning tunes, dancing, and one of the best views of the fireworks you’ll find anywhere! Tickets start at $139/per person and are likely to sell out early.

Fourth of July at the Empire State Building
What better way to celebrate the 4th of July in NYC than by watching the city’s most iconic fireworks from the city’s most iconic building? On Independence Day, the Empire State Building’s observatory will be closed to all except those who have purchased a ticket for this annual NYC Event! You’ll have one of the best views in the city for the fireworks, enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres, and a premium bar. Tickets are $350 and are available online.

Revolutionary New York Walking Tour
For history buffs or anyone looking for a daytime July 4th NYC event, this offering from Big Onion Walking Tours is a great pick! The tour includes stops and NYC landmarks with ties to the Revolutionary War, and the knowledgeable guide makes it a fun and interesting way to spend the day—and you’ll probably learn a thing or two!

Fast Fact: It was in NYC that George Washington got an early taste
of defeat when he was defeated by the British in the Battle of Brooklyn.

Some of the landmarks included on the tour are Fraunces Tavern, the grave of Alexander Hamilton, and places visited by George Washington. The tour, which is $23, is also available on other days, but it’s a fun choice for July 4th!
